If you don't want to vote for any of the available candidates, and it isn't just an excuse for apathy, then go along and spoil your paper.Takitothemacs wrote: I do accept that... 80%+ of their policies are crap... which is why I use my right not to vote. Its not about my own apathy either... just I CBA to vote for anyone who builds a campaign on 80% crap
With the current political system that is the only way to register your disatisfaction it's far from ideal, a "none of the above" option could be far better, but it is all that we have.

So what are the alternatives?
What is the ideal political system? Seems very easy to criticise the current systems, don't hear much about better alternatives though.
At least with Western "democracies" there is the chance to change things after 4/5 years, and the political parties do need to consider that, unlike in most other political systems.
Yes there is corruption, lying etc, but the politicians do still have to stand for re-election.
A couple of my favourite Quotes...
Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except all those others that have been tried from time to time.
Winston Churchill
The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.
