I just read in the Daily Mail that the European Commission President wants the British Government to give £85 Million to help France tackle the riots.

The rest of Europe is being asked to give £585 million.

How stupid can they get? The French Government has enough money to pay for it itself. Instead, that £670 million could be given to third world countries who have more important things to worry about, like food supply, disease, natural disasters etc.

The EU Government is crazy.

Just one of many reasons why the UK shouldn't be in the EU :p

Don't worry 24 hour drinking inc next week, we can get the EU to pay for our own rioting.

Please define "should be", if you mean, more than anyone else then you're correct, if you mean a fair amount then you're wrong. Even with the rebate England still pays more and gets less out of the EU than France does and THAT is a damn big disparity.

The EU caters for agricultural subsidies far more than it does for countries that revolve around services and technology, as the UK concentrates much more on services and technology now that means that the UK is getting a far worse deal than countries like France which still rely so heavily on flawed agricultural models which result in the EU paying cash to keep farmers in jobs which aren't financially viable.

As is part of the UK's argument for negotiating changes to our rebate, it's not fair that we lose our rebate and get next to nothing out of the EU because the EU mostly only caters for agriculture and not for things like services.

Just because you read in some biased newspaper in a country that benefits greatly from the EU that the UK is evil for holding onto it's rebate doesn't mean you know the full story and can make a blanket statement like that :p
