Well if you looked at the papers or main critic reviews then you would probably have seen low ratings and bad comments.
So just thought i would put up a little review without spoiling it.
if replying dont do open spoilers please
This film is based on a computer game, or series should i say as the first game was very popular.
Now when i played the first game (1999 i think) it was one of the few times a game has scared me, it built up suspence and played with your mind.
It is a suspense horror not a zombie shoot um up, so dont expect resident evil.
The film follows a similar plot to the games and has been done very well although some of it just seems too linear.
The director also did brotherhood of the wolf, which was one of the most artisically shot films i have ever seen, he has put a similar flare into this one and uses the shots it enhance the mood.
Even thoose that slated it commented that it looked good.
In the UK its been given a 15... this suprised me, i wouldnt really advise taking someone that young or with a fragile mind, it might not have jump out scary bits but it does get very gruesome at times.
So my thoughts on it, i liked it and would have given it 7/10 but it has a lingering effect and you keep thinking about it and thinking of what happened in differant ways so i bump it to an 8/10
If you havent played the game then i would say 6/10 as its a lot harder to understand and get drawn in.
It is as far as im concerned the best video game converted to film ive seen (but then i liked mortal kombat... FIGHT!) and is a must see if you played the games.
Would still advise giving it a shot even if you havent played them, will give a little hidden spoiler at the end that might help newcomers to silent hill.
The plot might be linear and not make sense at times, the lines might be corny and acting hammy at places but it makes you think, and even after you leave you will still be thinking (or cursing me.. sorry no refunds :aran2:)
Would advise going to see with someone, because i bet they would spot and see things a bit differant from you. <grin>
Ok here is a little spoiler to help newcomers, nothing new here the spoil the movie hopefully.
the story follows a mother trying to help her girl, and moves very quickly to Silent Hill, an abandoned town with a past, and things happen <grin>
dont expect everything to make sense, you will go most of the way through the film before some things make sense but its worth the wait, i cant go into more detail without spoiling it... sorry.
so much i could and want to say but best to find out yourself, just remember this is a suspense horror and unexplainable things can happen... it makes sense near the end.. kinda... muhahahahaha
Just go in with an open mind and try to enjoy rather then pick holes, hopefully you will enjoy it like i did

Silent Hill Movie Review
Aran Thule, Epic Sniper and Sojourner, Guild leader of the Artisans of Willow(roleplay guild)
ufff, i thought 1st it was Uwe Boll who directed also this one since he's known for buying all licenses for movies based on video games.
He makes some real flops, maybe he's aim is to be the modern Ed Wood, who knows....
But surprisinly it isn't him!
So might eventually watch this one
I played the original Silent Hill on psx1, love it, scared the shit out of me.
As i recall there were several endings in the game, and i did it only once, ofc i got the worst ending possible (read: not happy end)
