EA buys into Mythic..
Think the worst part is that Mythic said it was EA that came to them and it was their choice to merge, not a hostile takeover by EA.
Personally I think that makes it worse, the fact that Mythic WANTED to fuck up their company
Fact is EA has a history of destroying MMOGs (UO, Earth and Beyond etc.) especially, let alone other entire genres! :/

The thing is that a MMORPG company is like a bank (bear with me
), you invest your time and you expect them to act with a reasonable level of trustworthiness.
As an example, when I tried EQ2 for a while, you could sense the fact that Sony were purely in it for the money. This negates the whole point of the game as you could not trust the game company not to ruin what you are spending ages to pursue. It's not like a single player game, the actions of the company have a massive effect on game play. A company that micromanages everything for profit just ruins the game experience. In EQ2, it was $1 a month extra for some added feature.
Now, all game companies are in it for the money ultimately. However, when players see every 50/50 design decision falling on the side that makes the devs more money, it greatly reduces that trust. OTOH, Mythic were never perfect, O/P expansion classes/races were a profit motive.

They are a bit like McDonalds of eletronic art to me
But ok, maybe things don’t go that bad and such a powerfull parent gives Mythic more ressources to make WO and DAOC both better than without it?

We're all doomed i tell ye! The end of the worlde is neigh!
Its unlikely they'll shoot and gut this cash cow, the only thing that will ensure they do is if people walk away from the game and stop paying subs. Doomsayers, whiners and complainers may well ensure that that could happen.
